A Day of Art and Healing for Ukrainian Children in Rotterdam

Tuesday, January 9, 2024

Rotterdam, the Netherlands | Last December, the Strong Through Art Foundation (STAF) hosted an enchanting day together with artists Robert van der Kroft, Karmijn and Werklicht foundations and Ukrainian artists. 43 Ukrainian refugee children, ages ranging from 4 to 12, joined the festive workshop together with their parents / caretakers at Youth Theater Hofplein in Rotterdam. It was a big success!

Working in tandem

The Dutch and Ukrainian artists worked together to inspire the children and offer guidance. They showed them how to use the materials sponsored by the Royal Talens Foundation and taught them that there are different ways to make something. Even the parents and caretakers participated actively!

A welcome distraction

During the workshop, the children were spoiled with nutritious food, drinks and a bit of sweets. They also received a goodie bag full of surprises and gifts. The day helped the children to think about something else than the war going on at home. They were so excited; they could not wait till the next workshop!
